Micronaut’s New Home at the Commonhaus Foundation

Today, we are excited to share that Micronaut’s move to the Commonhaus Foundation is almost complete. We are finalizing some asset transfers, but Micronaut is a project of the Commonhaus Foundation.

In January, we announced our plans to join the Commonhaus Foundation. This move provides a long-term, neutral home for Micronaut and its community.

Why the Commonhaus Foundation?

Commonhaus is a non-profit foundation focused on the sustainability of open source libraries and frameworks. Its focus on project identity, support without unnecessary mandates, transparency, and long-term thinking aligns closely with Micronaut’s values.

Commonhaus can support the legal, administrative, and organizational work behind the project, while the Micronaut community and maintainers continue to guide its technical direction and day-to-day development. Micronaut is now listed among the foundation’s projects on the Commonhaus website.

What Remains the Same

Micronaut remains open source and available under the Apache License 2.0. The project’s repositories, issue trackers, and contribution workflows remain available through the Micronaut GitHub organization.

The people and principles at the heart of Micronaut remain the same. The framework will continue to focus on productive, modular, easily testable applications with fast startup and a small footprint across the JVM and cloud-native environments.
