The Micronaut Foundation is committed to the continued innovation, development, maintenance, and support of the Micronaut framework.

Our goal is to provide users of the Micronaut framework the support they need, while maintaining as much focus as possible on innovation. The level and type of support available for earlier versions will change, as the Framework continues to evolve.

Lifecycle Stages

Versions of the Micronaut framework may fall into one of three lifecycle stages:

  • Active Development
  • Active Maintenance
  • End of Support
  • Premium and Lifetime Support

Active Development

Versions of the Micronaut framework that are in “Active Development” receive regular updates. This includes new features, performance enhancements, and bug fixes. The majority of time and effort is invested in these versions, as they represent the latest and greatest that the Framework has to offer.

We recommend that new and existing Micronaut applications be built with or upgraded to these versions.

Active Maintenance

Versions of the Micronaut framework that are in “Active Maintenance” will still have releases. They will receive limited bug fixes and patches, mostly focused around the resolution of critical security advisories. New features, performance improvements, and minor bug fixes are unlikely.

We recommend that organizations whose Micronaut applications depend on a release that’s in “Active Maintenance” upgrade to the latest “Active Development” version in order to make use of the most current features the Framework has to offer.

End of Support

Once a version of the Micronaut framework moves from “Active Maintenance” to “End of Support”, it is unlikely to receive additional updates.

We highly encourage that organizations whose Micronaut applications depend on a release that’s in “End of Support” upgrade to (at a minimum) the latest “Active Development” version in order to make use of the most current features the Framework has to offer.

Premium and Lifetime Support

We understand that there are situations in which it may be difficult to keep an application up to date with the latest supported versions of the Micronaut framework. For these situations, we offer premium support options that address critical security advisories for the version of the Micronaut framework that you are utilizing.
