Announcing Our Newest Bronze Sponsor: HiveMQ

by Jen Wiese Tags:

The Micronaut Foundation™ is truly appreciative of the tremendous support we receive from our sponsors. In addition to financial support, generous contributions of development tools, infrastructure, and other resources are essential to the continued evolution of the Micronaut® framework.

Today, we are pleased to announce that HiveMQ has joined the Micronaut Foundation as a Bronze level Corporate Sponsor!

HiveMQ, founded in 2012, is headquartered near Munich, Germany. HiveMQ helps companies connect devices to the internet, making it possible to move data from device to cloud in a secure, reliable and scalable manner. With a vision of a connected world where people and companies can unleash their full potential, they have found their products to be relied on in production for mission critical use cases like connected cars, logistics, Industry 4.0 and connected IoT products. Their flagship product, HiveMQ, is a MQTT based messaging platform designed for the fast, efficient and reliable bi-directional movement of data between device and the cloud. With products like HiveMQ Cloud and HiveMQ Swarm, they are constantly growing a notable portfolio of clients, many of them Fortune 500 companies.

Supporting all of this is the Micronaut framework! They chose the Framework for a number of compelling reasons. Jochen Mader, Principal Engineer at HiveMQ, took the time to speak with us and gave some insight behind the why.

“About two years ago, we started working on our cloud offerings. We searched for an open-source application framework with the following properties:

  • Had an active community
  • Provided good documentation
  • Was compact in terms of dependencies
  • Possessed Modular with modules for database access and security

Several great contenders in the open-source application space meet the above criteria.
After a round of trials our developers opted for the Micronaut framework. They were impressed with the small footprint, the pragmatic approach, and the exhaustive documentation.

We are pleased with our decision to use the Micronaut framework. We’ve already experienced the following benefits:

  • We went through a major version and multiple point releases without a hitch
  • With their pragmatic API design and solid supporting document we are able to quickly onboard new developers
  • The Gradle integration simplifies every aspect of our builds

We are thrilled with Micronaut and look forward to what’s coming next!”

        – Jochen Mader, Principal Engineer at HiveMQ

We’re delighted to have HiveMQ on board as a Corporate Sponsor and proud to have them as a member of our community of users. The HiveMQ’s support for and excitement about the Micronaut technology is fantastic.

“The Micronaut framework has gone places we never dreamed of. Already, several companies have used the Framework to develop solutions for IoT devices. I am thrilled to partner with a leader in the IoT solutions industry, such as HiveMQ. I look forward to seeing Micronaut usage grow in the IoT community.”

– Sergio del Amo, Micronaut Product Tech Lead at Object Computing Inc.

We look forward to continued collaboration in the years to come. On behalf of the Micronaut Foundation, thank you! We already have several pieces of content in the works and will be publishing those soon, so stay tuned!
